This is what it's all about> To treat good teachers with respect can go so far in raising moral. Let's study the Finnish example and see what we can learn. Lord knows who will educate the next generation of young people. Will our most brilliant young people choose education as a profession? What does the attack on teachers mean for the future of our nation? If we fail to recruit the most talented young people I fear for the future of this nation.

The most sensible way to shore up tax revenues would be to shore up working and middle class incomes which have eroded or flattened since 1980 while necessary spending for housing, healthcare, education, fuel and other things has gone up dramatically. The very rich have seen an enormous increase in incomes and wealth during this same period, and have also enjoyed large tax cuts. These tax cuts did not result in more middle class jobs as promised, but paid for the export of jobs. And as jobs go away, so the tax base goes away. Why is it wrong to restore progressive taxes on the one segment of society that has benefited from the past thirty years? Why are average Americans so obedient to the wishes of the lucky few?
