In 2006, the Legislature created the CWA and allocated $25 million in one-time funding to begin cleaning up the pollution in Minnesota's waters. The Governor is recommending a $20 million appropriation for the coming year.
The Group of 16, made up of state agencies, environmental groups, the Chamber of Commerce and five local water management entities, estimated that Minnesota will need an additional $80 million to $100 million per year to get the job done.
