  1. to David : In Wed 1-21-2009 Northfield News they have an article about what is affected by todays economy and it states that the lottery sales remai steady to increased for scratch off tickets to put a 52.4 million dollars into enviornmental programs. Now what about Nursing Homes and Transportation Thank-You David Roberts

  2. Hello Mr. Bly,
I recently read over the results of your legislative survey and find it interesting that so many people in Scott co. think that the government should be in control of so many aspects of their lives. It seems to me that more people in this area are of the mind to deal with issues in their own the way they see best for them and their family. I see a trend of let government take care of everything because I,m too busy or I dont want to be bothered with those types of things being pushed on us by the media and many lazy individuals. This is unfortunate because I feel many more people care than dont.
So basically what I,m saying is that I have some doubts about your survey outcome. First of all there is no health care crisis. Anyone can get medical attension any where and not be turned away, legal resident or not. You just may have to pay for it. Many employers offer ins. to employees or theres major medical. Not that these are easy to pay for, like car ins. you may pay and pay feeling you dont need it until theres a problem. out of space, Mike Burgeson

  3. There Im back. Anyway its not governments job to take away every struggle or financial burden. The real crisis will be if government takes over health care. Just to stop myself from going on I feel moore of these bills and limiting of freedoms should be put to vote to us citizens. I am not pleased with seeing law after petty law being passed and finding out about it after the fact. Ever since I turned eighteen I have voted in all elections that apply to me thinking it was enough. Aperently more contact is needed, so heres a good place to start. What Im saying is I dont feel enough average people voice there mind. And I feel ingenius people and free enterprise and good work ethics has made this nation great, not free stuff from the government and their control. Dont miss understand I feel that a certain amount of help should be available for folks, there are disasters and crisises that its good to help but it seems that its going too far and eroding away peoples need and motivation to work and be productive.
One more topic before I go energy,we have much cleaner burning coal plants than years ago and agold mine of it under us. Why then is it we are not using more of this resource and others we now have until even better ones are dicoverad and economically worthwile. Again fossil fuels and free enterprie or government , I mean tax funded wastes like ethenal. Theres a fine display of spending dollars to save cents, and wasting food and water just to drive up their costs.
So Dave I know Im sounding rather critical here but it seems for as much as government does well they do twice as much wrong. What also worries me is I see the things that you promote and its more government control and intervension. GOD has left us to be good stewards of our resources, time and behavior. I personaly feel that government is trying to take alot of that responsibility and power from people. So basically besides just voting writing e-mails and having more political dicussions are the new order of things. Thank You for allowing me to voice my opinions, Mike Burgeson

  4. Great work! I also have my own blog I just find it hard to write quality content like this.
I guess I really don’t have the time.

  5. I find your survey very cherry picked for questions to get to results you want.

Question #1 Everybody knows jobs is #1 priority and I dont see opportunity for tax cuts, reduce size of government or anything but spending measures.

Question #2 Sure everyone wants to ensure kids are covered but that does not mean that government should be the solution. Question eludes that government is the only solution. Same thing on #3 and #4 very misleading.

#5 Good thing you dont point out the costs this is adding to our energy bills and the fact that climate change science has been refuted over and over again so bad science and politics is driving policy decisions.

#6 Nice choices there….. the lesser of the evils you are trying to get to right? How about cuts to non-essential services, how about making real cuts to size and cost of state government, how about making some tough choices?

#7 This should have been a business decision not a government decision. Regulating public and government ban is one thing but telling me as a bar owner when customers have a choice to come or not is absolutely 100% equivocally wrong!

#8 How about eliminating some of the costs that drive up costs of construction projects to begin with. Transportation is just like education….. never enough is there? It all comes down to priorities and planning something it appears we have no desire to do but ask to tax and spend more.

#9 Issues would like to see you working on…. that is too funny. Looking at the bills you have introduced it doesnt seem you have been working on much. How about zero based budgeting so every program, every spending item really competes for funding, how about jobs, how about voluntary unionism for Minnesota schools, how about making k-12 education funding be allocated to student and allow parents to choose where to spend those dollars, how about doing something other than supporting tax increases and more and more spending initiatives while taxpayers, families, and businesses are hurting in this economy?

But of course this is a 2007 survey where is your 2010 survey?
