I just received an e-mail update from Rep. Rick Hansen and thought I would pass it on. It seemed a good gesture following our memorial day ceremonies.

Here is some info from the Workforce Center on upcoming Veteran’s opportunities:

  • Minnesota Veterans Career Fair – Wed. July 11 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center. Link 
  • Veterans – Why Hire a Vet? – The Department of Employment and Economic Development has a “Top Ten” list at:   Link 
  • Avenues for Hiring a Vet – A comprehensive set of resources is at the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs website. Site also includes links to:

  • College Credit for Military Experience – Inver Hills Community College has a grant to pilot this effort. Learn more about this program and other resources for Veterans at: Link
  • Yellow Ribbon Entrepreneur Program – Find information on this and other services for Veterans through Dakota County Technical College at: Link 
  • Beyond the Yellow Ribbon – “A Yellow Ribbon Community unites all areas within a community to create a comprehensive network that connects and coordinates agencies, organizations, resources and employers for the purpose of proactively supporting Service members and military families.” Link
  • Networking Group – There is a Networking Job Club for Veterans at the Burnsville WorkForce Center held every Monday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at: Link
